‘Homesick’ is the latest single from Irish indie band The Academic. It’s an atmospheric, melodic track with huge emotional weight to its lyrics, which are about the fallout and insecurities that come with the ending of a relationship. Thick bass lines juxtapose the sweet, smooth lilt of those retro keyboard sounds, while the airy, reverb-soaked lead vocal of Craig Fitzgerald’s voice takes centre stage. The band are heading out on a tour of the UK and Europe in February and March of 2023 and drop their new album, Sitting Pretty, on February 10th. They describe the LP as being “about the entrance into true adulthood and how that can alienate you from yourself, making you feel like you’re playing a supporting role in your own life.” -Dan Peeke.
